2025 SHARK SCHOLARSHIP

MRHS PTO is offering two scholarship awards for MRHS Class of 2025 Seniors to help with college or trade school expenses. First place winner will receive a scholarship in the amount of $1000 and second place will receive a scholarship in the amount of $500. Awards may be used for tuition, books, or other educational expenses.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5 

• Applicants must be in good standing with attendance and have no outstanding school fees

• Must be accepted to a 2 or 4 year college or trade school

• One essay question (350-500 words)

• Two letters of recommendation.

 

(Please note: MRHS students whose parents serve on the PTO as an active board member are not eligible to apply for this scholarship).

 

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: 11:59 PM EST on May 7, 2025

HOW TO APPLY:
Visit the Google form linked above to apply. Please note the form will save your entries for 30 days ONLY if you use a Google email account. If you do not use a Google email, you will need to have all your information ready to complete the online application.  We recommend downloading the application packet linked above, which has all the scholarship details including the essay topics. This will allow you to prepare your replies before you begin the online application.  You can then copy & paste your essay and information into the Google form.

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATIONS:

Typed letters of recommendation must be emailed to mrhspto@gmail.com, directly from the recommender, with PTO Scholarship and your first and last name in the subject line. (Example: PTO Scholarship - John Doe).  We have included instructions for you to provide to your recommenders in the scholarship packet linked above.  One recommender must be an MRHS teacher, the other can be a teacher, coach, employer, or mentor. Family members cannot write you a letter of recommendation.  

APPLICATION REVIEW & DECISION:

• Applicant requirements (GPA, attendance, and fees) will be verified with MRHS administration & bookkeeper.

• Applications will be reviewed and winners will be chosen by the MRHS Executive Board and three (3) unaffiliated and unrelated community members. 

• Selection will be made without regard to race, gender, or religious affiliation.

• Award decisions will be announced mid-May and awards will be presented at Senior Awards Night on May 21st.
